A wedding registry is something that most etiquette advisors will
have a different opinion of, but if there are items that you know
that you want or need and would make a great wedding gift, why not
let your guests know it? A wedding registry doesn’t have to be
pushed into the faces of your guests, but it is a great way to take
inventory of the things that you may need as you move forward in
your married life together.
Many wedding guests and even members of the wedding party need help
with wedding gifts & ideas. Why many suggest that the idea of a
wedding registry is rude, because it assumes that guests will be
bringing a gift, many guests will tell you that a registry is a
godsend when they are shopping. It is difficult to know what the
happy couple already has and what they might need or want, and no
one wants to spend money on a gift that cannot be used, so having a
registry to turn to really is helpful for the guests, not to mention
to the bride and groom.
Brides and grooms may choose to register at local gift shops where
they can pick and choose the items that they would like. If there is
not a local gift shop that offers a wedding registry couples can
register with national and even international department stores that
will allow them to add a little bit of everything to the list. Big
names such as Target, Bed Bath & Beyond and Macy’s all offer bridal
registries. These department stores will allow the bride and the
groom to register not only for the items that they need, but also
for some fun items that they may not be able to afford on their own.
The wedding registry is also a great idea for bridal party gifts. It
is customary for brides to have bridal parties and many times the
guests at the bridal party are not sure what to get the blushing
bride. If in doubt the guests can look at the wedding registry and
simply buy from there since they know that there are items on there
that the bride wants. This is a fun way for a lot of guests to shop
because they can look down the list and choose something that they
can not only afford but would want to give.
The wedding registry has come under fire in the last few years with
many people saying that they are not proper and make guests feel
obligated to buy a gift. This is something that is generally said by
self proclaimed experts but most brides and grooms as well as guests
at weddings believe that they are very helpful in the shopping
process.
