When a couple becomes engaged and people start asking when the
big day is they start planning what their wedding will be like in
their heads. If you are currently engaged and you have started
imagining your wedding in your mind you may want to hold off and
look at your budget first. Many couples are disappointed in their
weddings because they had always envisioned something extravagant
and they thought that their dreams would become a reality. The fact
of the matter is that weddings can get very expensive very quickly.
Before you start dreaming of crystal chandeliers and fine china you
may want to open the check book and see what you can afford.
Many couples are lucky enough to have financial help from their
parents when they plan their wedding. This can come in very handy,
but if the couple does not have anything to contribute they may find
that they still cannot afford all of the things that they would
like. Regardless of who is paying for the wedding a budget probably
needs to be created so that the couple can see where money needs to
go and where some extra money could be spent to create the style and
ambiance that the couple wants to personalize their wedding day to
the best of their ability.
To create a wedding budget the couple must first know exactly
what is in the bank account to be spent. This may take some
discussing between the couple and their family members, but in the
end the couple should have an exact number to work with. From this
budget there are going to be things that need to be budgeted for
such as a venue, attire, legal fees for a marriage license and
wedding ceremony. Other considerations may include a reception
hall, catering, transportation, lodging for any guests, and funds
for a honey moon if possible. Other elements that should be
budgeted include a wedding cake, flowers, and any other decorations
that may be needed such as decorations for the church and reception
area.
Creating a very in depth wedding budget will allow the bride and
groom to see where every penny goes so that they can keep track of
what they are spending. Having a budget in place from day one will
allow the couple to get the things that they need, some of what they
want, and still stay within their budget. A couple needn’t go broke
when they are planning their wedding, instead they just need to
create a realistic plan and stick to it 100%.
